About/Contact

The Capacity project is a Bristol-based regeneration project aiming to open up empty and underused buildings for creative uses for the benefit of Bristol’s creative community, residents and visitors to the city. We endeavor to ensure that wherever possible any empty council owned buildings are made available for temporary usage by artists and also help broker usage of privately owned buildings. This project also has an advocacy role, aiming to legitimatise the temporary usage of space by artists and make Bristol a progressive city in which these activities can take place. Over the past 3 years we have supported a wide array of creative projects including the Island (Artspace Lifespace), pop up shops and galleries, Igfest city wide games, creation of studio, office, rehearsal and storage space and many exhibitions, installations and performances.

  2. there are many disabled and house bound lonely people, many are interested in art and crafts others are possibly looking for social contact. I would like to establish a free or inexpensive creative base, be it short or long term which can bring these individuals together. I live in BS49. I have a degree in drawing and applied arts, and I am 60 years old and registered disabled, I also teach a little. Can you help please.

    • Hello Colin,
Thanks for your interest in the project. This project focuses on Bristol and unfortunately doesn’t stretch out to BS49 however if you are interested in running something in Bristol, my colleague Hannah Currant hannah.currant@bristol.gov.uk may be able to give you some useful advice and contacts for the sort of project you are thinking of setting up.
      All the best,
      Ruth
